Snow Geese

We had a great time photographing the Snow Geese. There must have been thousands of them ... they were everywhere!

The Goldies!

They had a great time yesterday. It turned very cold and all the birds were "wild". There must have been at least two dozen goldfinch in my yard.

Ring-billed Seagulls

I found these Seagulls at the river last month. I love shooting gulls because it is so easy as they seem to glide thru the air rather slowly. These two were perched on top of a light.

Breakfast in the Morning Sun

I don't really like the House Sparrows much but this little female looked rather cute sitting in the early morning sun.

Meet "Stumpy"

I was looking out the kitchen window while doing dishes and noticed this goldie on the thistle feeder. I kept watching him and then realized he only had one foot! Poor little guy ... he seems to get around quite well though.

My Little "Chickadee"

These little guys are sooooooo fast that most of the time it is hard to get off a shot. They work so hard at opening the sunflower seeds. I love watching them!

Downy Woodpecker (male)

There were a lot of Woody's in the old Maple tree yesterday. This Downy was taking a short time out from "pecking". He had been trying to steal a peanut from a Red-bellied Woody .... he didn't get too far with that idea :) The RBW was all over the poor little Downy ... very comical to watch the Woody's.

Tufted Titmouse

I was so thrilled to see this little Titmouse coming to the feeder. I haven't had any of these beautiful little birds at the feeders for almost 2 years! A couple of winters ago there were tons of them in this area. They are such pretty little birds and a lot of fun to watch. Not the best photo but it was cloudy when I shot it :)

White-breasted Nuthatch

He came to the feeder and got a sunflower seed and then flew up on the branch and was sticking it under the bark ...... hammering the seed to open it. I could watch these little guys all day long. They are really trusting of humans also ... just like the Chickadee.

Red-bellied Woodpecker

What a beauty this little male is .... he has been coming to the feeders on a daily basis and loading up on corn and peanuts. I love watching him .... he never shuts up ..... constantly squeaking! Some mornings it is a battle between him and the badboy Bluejays :) I've tried getting a shot of both the woody and the jay on the feeder at the same time but haven't had any luck yet!

Shrike

What a little cutie he is! Not a very well liked bird as they prey on other small birds

Red-tailed Hawk

He was harrassed by a group of Grackles for about 15 minutes but he never once paid attention to them :)

"You lookin at me lady"?

This little juvie Coopers Hawk came to visit the other day in the rain! He was all over the place trying to catch himself some lunch. He was very inexperienced and didn't manage to grab one bird. And, I must say, he was not one bit afraid of me. I took way over 100 shots of him! This is just one of the funnier poses that he displayed.
